The organization consists of multiple engineering disciplines including software development, quality engineering, compliance and security and a a platform engineering function We are looking for a hands on Manager of DevOps Engineering who is both passionate about leading & managing people, but also has the technical background & willingness to support/ take on DevOps engineering assignments within the team.This is a highly visible role within the organization that will help drive change in how Barclays Technology teams deploy applications into production, assess and drive engineering change with respect to performance within our application suite, performance test applications and drive the overall cloud and data center strategy for the Cards division. What will you be doing?•Manage a team of DevOps Engineers which includes about 15 staff of both junior and senior DevOps Engineers. •Manage inbound requests to the team for DevOps Engineering support. Determine what requests will be supported and which ones will not, assign team members to projects and manage expectations of the project teams relative to scope of involvement.•Work directly with Engineering leads to ensure that the teams Devops Engineering role evolves with the Application Development and Data Engineering organizations with respect to engineering methodologies being used •Take on specific DevOps engineering roles. Given the small size of the team, this role is expected to wear two hats: leadership and Sr. DevOps Engineering lead. As a Sr. DevOps Engineer, this person is expected to be able to from time to time take on technical DevOps engineering assignments within the team.What we’re looking for:•Master's degree (or equivalent) or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related field and 3+ years of experience in role such as Performance Engineer, Software Engineer, or closely related position OR Bachelor's degree in specified fields and 7+ years of progressive, post-bachelor's experience in the specified occupations.•5+ years Experience of directly managing team to enhance project deliverables that meet agile standards and processes, define objectives for team, execute regular performance appraisals after projects, mid-year and annually. Manage compensation for a mid-size team (10-20 people)•5+ years Experience overseeing utilization of programming languages to write/modify complex source codes and correct defects with deployment pipelines, Chef Recipe’s, etc.; Utilizing Scripting protocols to create Shell Scripts•5+ years Experience developing, automating and optimizing various build and deployment Environments.Skills that will help you in the role:•Demonstrated ability to plan, communicate, and generate buy-in for projects, priorities, and goals with the ability to successfully facilitate conflict resolution required. •Is skilled at listening, influencing, collaborating, and building/maintaining highly productive teams; creating and fostering a work environment of teamwork and respect; facilitating difficult and/or complex issues; prioritizing, making sound decisions, and managing complex projects; and meeting deadlines.•Have demonstrated an ability to understand the Barclays business needs and recommend/implement workable solutions; Understand emerging technologies and its application to services; communicate effectively both in writing and orally, including the ability to make presentations; establish and maintain respectful and constructive working relationships; and delegate and empower staff.
